WCTC Comes to Penguin Point
Whoosh go the cars! The flag has dropped and the race has been run at Penguin Point Raceway culminating in a second series win for the home-track Peugeot in the World Touring Car Championship! Our red racer continues to cling relelentlessly to the top rungs in each race and has managed to maintain the overall series lead. Coupled with our other finishes in the previous five events, we're in pretty good shape. It's all about the points. The next race in the series is scheduled for Wednesday night, September 8th in Milwaukie at the Autumn Hills Raceway of Rico and AJ Locati. You can follow us live on the internet with streaming video coverage provided courtesy of Mon-TV. After that race which marks the half-way point in the series, the cars head down south for a pair of races in California and Arizona before finally heading east for the last 4 races in the series. Stay tuned for more as it develops... On the international proxy scene, our entry in the International Proxy Series is staying near the top with a recent 6th place finish at the famous Wolverhampton track in England. The IPS is a series for pre-1965 era sports cars with skinny tires and lower-powered motors. We'll keep plugging away and hope to find a few more good finishes and work our way up the standings. Then again, it's proxy racing. You just never know. -- Last Updated (Monday, 30 August 2010 09:49) Fly Trucks Come to the Pen
This is a first at the Pen since this is a class we have not previously encountered. To sort things out I held a qualifying session a few nights later to sort out any issues and get a feel for the trucks. I could see right away that it was going to be an exciting night of racing. A few nights later we assembled a great group of our local racers to help us put hamer down on these trucks. With 12 trucks and 8 different drivers, we arranged it so each driver drove each truck the same amount of time. And it turned out to be quite the race with the trucks laying waste to most every track side accessory at one time or another. But it was all great fun and everyone had a good time trying to give them a "good run". Here's a link to our live video feed that we provided during the event. So there we were on the 4th of July in the middle of the first heat when I over-cooked a corner and came off. And then I did it again... I spent the rest of the heat trying to catch AJ. Lap after lap I closed the gap until I finally caught him on the final turn on the final lap headed for the lap counter. I had him... victory was within reach... then he smacked me into the wall and that was that. The rest of the day saw Rico racking up heat victories like a man possessed. Going into the final heat I had one more chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. But I was in the outside lane, AJ had the middle lane and it was not to be. Taking the heat victory and a tie for top honors of the day with the cherry-picking Rico was AJ. We'll try to get 'em next time. Welcome to Slot Car Heaven
We host racing for our local NASTE group (the Northwest Association of Slot Track Enthisiasts) and also a monthly first Sunday series that is free and open to all. You can connect with us on Facebook. We're also currently involved with proxy racing. A proxy race is one where cars are built to a stated specification and then sent off to do battle on tracks around the globe. At each stop, the local drivers take to the track and put the cars through their paces. This year we plan to host rounds of the International Proxy Series for pre-1964 sports cars, a Fly Trucks proxy and also a round ot the World Touring Car Championship. It promises to be a fun and exciting year here in Heaven. |

In early July, the Fly Trucks rolled into town in anticipation of round four of the Fly Truck Proxy.
