Once, a long, long time ago, back in the early 60’s I got my first slot car track for Christmas.

It was a pretty miserable affair - the track was powered by large dry-cell batteries and the rails had to be individually snapped into the track. The cars barely moved and there was nothing like racing involved. As it was, it didn’t last long. It was, however, the first slot car track I had ever seen.

A few years later we had much better tracks in HO scale and 1/32 scale. You could now actually race and have fun! So I raced and raced on various incarnations of my home track. Thought I was pretty good.

One day they put in a 1/24th scale slot car track in our small town and within a short time I was hooked. Found out I wasn’t very good.

Autumn Hills RacewayBut I stayed at it until I started winning regularly. In fact I raced constantly at tracks all around the Northwest until I got old enough to have a drivers license. Then there were cars, girls, road rally, and a lot of other things needing my attention. I stayed away for a long time...

Every now and then I would look through the slot car listings on ebay and cry over the incredible value my cars would have had now. My old pride and joy, the Cox Chaparral 2E with the working wing, had become the holy grail of slot car racing! In fact people were still racing. What had happened in my absence?

After a few hit and miss affairs with local tracks I finally ran into a group of fellow racers that seemed to be having fun racing on routed home tracks in HO and 1/24th scale.

Well, it didn’t take doing that for very long to decide a home track would be a good idea.

We bought a Scalextric Sport track set for Christmas and I started adding to it. So finally armed with the Tracker 2000 software, a big box of Scalextric Sport track, and a 12’ x 6’ area, I laid out tracks until I found one I liked. It was around this time that my wife, Victoria, took a 10-day vacation to Hawaii with her daughter and father. “Would I like to come along?” Lessee... Hawaii, slot cars, Hawaii, slot cars. Not much choice there.

Here we present the result of that decision:

Autumn Hills Raceway, designed as a playground for rally cars. However, F1, NASCAR, Euro-racers, Detroit steel, classic cars from the past, all will be welcome to travel the beautiful Autumn Hills.

We hope you enjoy your visit. Come back soon.

Sincerely,
Monte and Victoria
